2010 DISNEY TRIP

Ratified Trip Itinerary – updated February 24th, 2010

Thursday, March 11th, 2010 [spring break runs March 15-19]

7 pm               Be at the high school for last minute meeting and updates.

7:10 pm             Load busses and chase vehicles.

8 pm                 Leave JHS in three North Side charter busses.

 

Friday, March 12th, 2010 [Ambush in Aftermath Shirts today]

6 a.m. (5 PST)   Breakfast in Las Vegas. Driver switch, gas stop for busses at the Flying J Plaza.

            [Switch to Pacific times on itinerary. Change your watch if necessary.]

5:30 a.m.           Drive down the Las Vegas Strip.

11 a.m.               Arrive in Santa Monica, spend time at the beach and boardwalk.

1:10 p.m.            Load busses to go to Universal CitiWalk. $10 lunch money passed out on board.

1:45 p.m.           CitiWalk, for lunch and open-air mall, or optional time in Universal Studios,

4:45 p.m.           Load busses and head to motel.
5:30 p.m.           Check into motel – Super 8 on Disneyland Drive.

6 p.m.                Back on busses in clean clothes. Head to dinner.

6:30 p.m.           Dinner at Medieval Times dinner theatre and tournament.

9 p.m.                Return to motel for the night.
11 p.m.               Room check and lights out.
 

Saturday, March 13th, 2010 [White Tour Shirts today]

6:30 a.m.           Wake-up call – continental breakfast; clean and pack up rooms.

7:20 a.m.           Room inspection by chaperones. Meeting to review plans and expectations.

7:35 a.m.           Load busses and go to Disney complex.

Passes and $10 lunch money distributed to all participants.

7:55 a.m.           Vehicle inspection backstage for band busses.

8 a.m.                Day spent in complex: Disneyland (opens at 8), California Adventure (opens at 9),

8:30 a.m.           Band arrives at ToonTown backstage entrance for soundtrack recording

– set-up, warm-up, preliminary instructions.

9 a.m.                Band studio recording session, Disneyland backstage.

10:30 a.m.         End of workshop. Band returns to busses.

4 p.m.                Leave for Cal Hi for exchange concert.

4:45 p.m.           Dinner with the Cal Hi band.
6 p.m.                Warm-up for choir and band.
6:30 pm            Concert at Cal Hi.

            [Concert order: their middle school band first, then orchestra, our choir, their freshman band, our band, and their wind ensemble.]

9 pm or so         Move to gym, set up for the night. Pass out Magic Music Days shirts to performers.

11 p.m.               Meeting followed by lights out.
 

Sunday, March 14th, 2010 [Disney Magic Music Shirts for performers, adults in Booster shirts]

6:30 a.m.           Wake-up call – basic clean-up, breakfast

7:25 a.m.           Meeting to review the day’s plans.

7:30 a.m.           Load busses and go to Disney complex.

Passes and $10 lunch money distributed to all participants.

8 a.m.                Day spent in Disney complex (again, Disneyland opens at 8, California Adventure 9)

8:30 a.m.           Choir enters backstage through the Toontown entrance.

9 a.m.                Choir clinic, Disneyland backstage.

10:30 a.m.         Clinic ends. Choir members back into park by 10:45.

2 – 3 p.m.          $10 dinner money will be distributed from central location to all participants.

3:30 p.m.           Ambush of Tigers Marching Unit meets at the front of the park to prep for parade.

3:55 p.m.           Vehicle inspection for Ambush busses.

4:30 p.m.           Meet at the entrance to Toontown – change into uniform - photo shoot – warm-up.

5:40 p.m.           Move through backstage to beginning of parade route.

6 p.m.                Booster assistants meet Ambush at parade start.

6:10 p.m.           Parade begins at the front of Main Street

6:30 p.m.           Approximate end of the parade at Small World

7 p.m.                Ambush members return to the park.

9 p.m.                Return to CalHi gym for the night.

10:30 p.m.         Meeting followed by lights out.
 

Monday, March 15th, 2010 [Black Tour Shirts today]

6 a.m.                Wake-up call. Pack up and load busses and trailer.

6:45 a.m.           Gym inspection, Meeting to cover the day’s events and plans.

7 a.m.                Leave CalHi before they start their school day.

7:30 a.m.           Breakfast in Anaheim.

Passes and $10 lunch money will be distributed to all participants.

8 a.m.                Spend the day back at Disney. Passes distributed to all participants.

                                    (again, Disneyland opens at 8, California Adventure 9)

2 – 3 p.m.          $10 dinner money will be distributed from central location to all participants.

TBA p.m.           Choir performance TBA
6 p.m.                Leave Disney complex.

7 p.m.                Dinner and then load busses to return to Idaho.                                                        

 

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

Midnight           In Las Vegas: fill gas tanks, switch bus drivers.

7 a.m.                Breakfast on the road.
Noon (MST)      Arrive at Jerome HS unload and go home.
 

TOTAL COST of DISNEY TOUR: $380/person [so – your last payment is $120 or less.]

 

All meals are paid for. All housing and entrance fees are paid for. All transportation is covered.

 

Participants would be responsible for their own incidentals: souvenirs, snacks, etc. Universal Studios tour is NOT included in the cost of the trip (about $30) but participants may bring money and go into the facility or remain on the CitiWalk (which in our experience has more than enough to keep everyone interested!).

 

Photos of the Ambush of Tigers Marching Unit and of the JHS Choir will be taken before their respective performances and available for purchase.

 

There are souvenir opportunities at each of the following sites: Santa Monica Boardwalk, Universal CitiWalk, Medieval Times, Downtown Disney, Disneyland, and California Adventure.
