Ambush Of Tigers MBIt’s almost time for the 2008 AMBUSH OF TIGERS to take shape!!
We have two morning camps lined up to get us ready for the season:
v MARCHING CAMP runs July 22-23-24-25 at the JHS band room, and July 28 at the middle school, in preparation for our first performance of the year in the County Fair Parade on Tuesday, July 29th. We’ll be learning all the marching techniques we’ll use throughout the year, as well as memorizing the field show music and flagwork and several other songs plus the parade flag routine. Then we’ll take a break until the…
v FIELD SHOW CAMP on August 12th though 15th, when we’ll learn the ENTIRE marching drill for our competition field show, “WEST SIDE STORY”! We’ll end that camp with a pot luck lunch for friends and family and a performance of the show for them, with its public premiere at the varsity home football game on Friday, September 5th.
v Rehearsals on each of those nine days will run from 7 a.m. to noon, rain or shine. Our intent is to get through everything while it’s still cool, and to let you spend the rest of your day as you wish. My promise to you is not to waste your time – we will start on time every day, end on time every day, and make every rehearsal count. If you’re giving up some of your time during the summer to be here, we’ll use that time constructively.
We marched 40, 50, and 71 members in the last three years consecutively. THIS FALL’S AMBUSH OF TIGERS IS CURRENTLY AT 88 MEMBERS AND COULD KEEP GROWING! The show is done, we had a great head start on the music this spring, and the 2008 season is set to be the best we’ve ever had! The hoodie uniforms, the dramatic show, and the chance to leave a memory in not only your mind but those of the thousands of people who’ll watch us perform across the west!
What to bring to EVERY rehearsal:
*Water bottle *Sunscreen *Socks and GOOD sneakers *Your instrument or flag
*A high level of energy and enthusiasm to DO YOUR BEST – which is all we can ever ask of you.
OUR PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE is on the website – bookmark this:
It’s your one-stop site for everything anyone needs to know about the AMBUSH OF TIGERS and the Jerome band and color guard program. We have four home games, plus trips to Sun Valley for the Wagon Days parade, Pocatello and Caldwell for competitions, and a four-day trip to northern California for a major marching band contest in October! We’ll be rehearsing before school four days a week during the first trimester, and we’ll have the entire drill taught before the first day of classes, so even if you can’t enroll in Varsity Band first period you can still march with the AMBUSH of TIGERS this fall. In fact, you’ll get a class credit for your participation in the zero-hour program – we’ll enroll you during Field Show Camp. We want to make this ensemble accessible for every student who’s willing to work to be part of the show – so give us an idea in advance what conflicts we’ll need to work out for you to participate.
>Our next car wash will be on July 12th at DL Evans Bank from 9-2 – earn money for your account now! We’ll also be putting on a rummage sale at Automated Dairy Systems on July 26th, so contribute what you can and add more money to your Ambush account by helping out with that as well!
This is going to be our best Ambush of Tigers show and season yet! I hope you’re as excited as I am over the potential of this group!! Email me (smithg@d261.k12.id.us) with any questions or conflicts– we’ll make our schedules fit together if you work with me! See you on July 22nd!
